normal? sadly enough yes. I swithed the fan swith for another one for an audi (Ithink) maybe volvo. But anyway I went to Napa and looked through there books and found a thermo switch to activate at 175 and to rig it is like any other switch. Power lead from the battery(with fuse) plug to one end of the switch, the other plug to the power wire of the fan. You just have to put in a "t" at the coolant sensor plug.

Yup, fan kicks in at 227-228 degrees. I verified mine with a digital cooking thermometer. I checked it because my gauge said i was overheating but i wasn't....turned out the Coolant Temperature Sensor was bad. Replaced it and solved the gauge problems.
