steering wheel shakes
steering wheel shakes
ok well my steering wheel shakes really bad after i start slowing down. i heard it might be my driveshaft. if it is, is this expensive to fix? and is it bad to drive like this?
also, i just rebuilt my engine and there is a bad rattling every once in a while coming from the engine. any ideas what it could be? thanks in advance.

Have you tried your breaks? I returned my rotor's and my stearing wheel stopped, is it when you start to break? I might not know all the details, but it could be your break rotor, or the stearing box, good luck
it costs about 50 a rotor from what I hear, have them checked, I'm almost certain thats your problem, I had the same thing with mine, its not the driveshaft

also dont forget to look at your tires for cupping, flat spots, etc. Try rotating the tires to see if that helps. If you find a bad tire, put it on the rear because you wont feel it as much as you would on the front. Maybe get them balanced.
If ya returned your rotors what ya using to stop with (LOL J/K!)
But, the rotors may be warped It could be the drum brakes, BUT
Here's the test.
Drive to an open road, long straight or industrial parking lots, etc.
Somewhere no on else around.
Get up to about 40-ish hit the brakes, hands close by wheel. Watch the action of the wheel.
SHIMMY or SHAKE VIOLENTLY?
Shimmy did ya just change brake pads? AND not turn rotors?
OR did ya do that (have rotors off, turned), or perhaps not attend to proper bearing reseating or greasing or tightening?
Those are clues, let us know.
GENERALLY tires will shake wheel from 40-70 mph, if outta balance.
WHAT HAPPENED RECENTLY TO HAVE THIS EFFECT?
Driveshaft, no. It'd happen all the time (the shimmy).
You'd feel that in your butt.
Wheel, hands front end.
Butt, back end whelles, shaking in the car.
Vibration, loose shield on the AC compressor. Bend it tighter. That happened to mine. Bent it against the unit and the noise stopped.
