TPS Issues

I’ve been having an issue with my tps, doesn’t throw any codes or anything like that but I noticed it runs bad and refuses to idle without my foot on the gas with the tps plugged in, once I unplug the car the car idles but it either idles high (2000rpm), while the car was running I tried to plug in the tps to see what would happen and it stalls the entire engine has anyone ever experienced this issue?? Also for the 92 v6 3.1L is the tps adjustable

Re: TPS Issues

No, it's not adjustable. 90 up basically detect the position at start up as throttle closed.

Have you cleaned all the crud out of the throttle body and the IAC passages? The 3.1L PCV system recirculates in front of the throttle body. As the engines age, any blow-by will be routed from the passenger's valve cover into the throttle body which can gum up the idle passages.

You might also want to disconnect the battery for a minute or two, and reconnect it, just to reset the computer and give it a chance to clear any bad data. I want to say there's a procedure in the book to recalibrate the idle on the V6. If everything is stock, and functioning correctly, you shouldn't have to recalibrate anything.

Does that also explain why I can only keep the car running with it unplugged?? Because when I put the connector back into the tps it stalls the car... also I cleaned the inside of the throttle body and the iac itself I think it’s broken though because the entire spring and screw fell out of it and I had to put it back together I know it’s still capable of moving if I turn the key to on it just pops right out and falls on the ground but that’s only when I don’t have it inside the slot, also the codes I get are 14 for cts, 32 for EGR, and 33/34 for map high/low vacuum

Re: TPS Issues

Might be a good idea to grab a service manual and start fixing the code issues. When the computer says there's something wrong, the engine isn't going to run right until you fix the issues.
