Intake, Non-CCC Carb, Vacuum Advance Distributor swap done but.............

Hey guys I finished swapping my stock intake for an edelbrock intake and non-ccc carb, and vacuum advance distributor. My one problem is the car is not starting. I think it maybe to advance because the is popping through the carb. Should I back the distributor a tooth or two? What else would not make it start. It's getting fuel, there's no clogs or anything. I don't know what do you think?

double check that the distributor is alligned correct. Popping thru the carb is usually a back fire. Did you do the sparkplug wire test to see if it's getting juice?

What's with the rainbow color in the pic?

At least your heads look better than mine.

I checked the plugs to see if they were getting spark and they are. I'm going to have to fiddle with the distributor alittle i guess. Oh yeah, what do youy mean by,
What's with the rainbow color in the pic?

I wouldn't back the distributor off "a tooth", I'd just spin it clockwise a few degrees and try to start it, spin it back counterclockwise a few degrees and try to start it, etc. Did you install it at 0 degrees advance with the #1 (front pass side) cylinder at TDC? If so, spin the distributor counter-clockwise a bit to put some advance into the timing.

Sounds like timing... just play with it... usually intake backfire is too far retarded, so do like Tom said and advance it some...
