Laser etched center caps

I ordered some replica Z06 wheels which look great, but the center caps have Corvette style logos.

I was able to order some gunmetal grey blank center caps, and planned to get some firebird logos. After seeing an ad for laser engraving a mug, I wondered if they could engrave plastic.

Turns out it can be done. I gave a local shop the blank caps and a copy of the flaming chicken. A couple days later, I've got center caps with a nice subtle firebird logo.

Putting them on my wheels soon.

Very cool - like the outside of the box solution too!

Re: Laser etched center caps

That is very nice, well done.

Where did you get the blank caps, I may want to do the same thing for my Camaro?

Re: Laser etched center caps

I ordered them from oewheels. Specifically Josh at 1-866-273-3651 ext. 301. He was extremely helpful and followed up.

Re: Laser etched center caps

Thanks guys!

I've got the new wheels, tires, and center caps on the car. I think it looks pretty good. The logo on the center caps is very subtle, which is what I was going for.

What are the wheel sizes and spacers you used?

Re: Laser etched center caps

The wheels are 17X9.5 in the front and 18X10.5 rear. Used 2" spacers on all four corners.

The front wheels just slightly touched the tie rod ends, so I replaced them with Spohn tie rods. Plenty of clearance after that. At full lock on a hill, the tire just touches the wheel well. But I can live with that.

The rear just needed a bit of shaving of the bump stops.
