me against my dad, who'd win?
this is totally theoretical, considering i am only CONTEMPLATING the build, but i would like to see who ya'll think would win
dad's 85z:
10.3:1 355
200cc iron eagles
holley street dominator intake
holley 750dp with proform body
custom ground solid lifter cam .532/.526 288/292 (adv.)
cam dynamics aluminum 1.5:1 rockers
hedman longtubes/2.5" ture dual moroso spirals
power glide with ati 2800 stall converter
4.56 spooled 9"
runs consistant 11.9's at 116mph on 275/60/15 drag radials@ 3350lbs.
my 87 sc:
10:1 355
200cc iron eagles
holley street dominator
holley 750vs
comp xe274
crane energizer aluminum roller rockers 1.5:1
hedman longtubes/2.5" h-piped true duals w/ summit racing mufflers
built 700r4 with an ati 2800 stall converter
4.10's with a locker and 9"
who'd win and what would i run in a 3400lbs car on 275/60/15 drag radials?

I dont know that would be a pretty dang close race, considering that both motors are basically the same. I would say it would be a drivers race.

well, i have less cam, but better gearing. do you really think that combo could net me 11's?
I'd say it's gonna come down to the driver. However, I do like your dad's cam better. I dunno though, it'll be close. Who has driven their car more? Aka: Who knows their car better, and how it drives/reacts/etc. Let us know how it goes.

well, my dad won the world championship for the NSCA's American Muscle class this last year, and he runnered up 4 years in a row so, i'd say he is the better driver, but he taught me everything i know and i have had several .000 lights this past season.
remember, this is theoretical, i don't have that motor built yet, but i am going to start on it probably later this summer. gotta get the built 700r4 in it first though. just got my ATI 10" converter from UPS today...it's pretty!

I really don't think that combo would yield you 11's. Maybe mid 12's, but that is just my opinion. I think it would be a decent combination though. Your fathers cam is more than alittle bigger, and its a solid cam, which is more suited for high rpm's than your hydraulic is. Therefore your gearing is not really better than his, since your engine doesn't make power as high in the powerband as his.

well, the goal is to get the car in the mid(prayerfull low with less wieght)12's with the motor and still have great street manners. i don't know how those heads will like the street though.
yeah, his cam is pretty wild. it sounds ridiculous, and idles around 1300rpm. he fired it up from behind the trailer earlier this evening to put it back inside the trailer, my goodness!!! i just can't get enough of it! (they live in a motor home and so i don't get to see them very much, they do fulltime drag racing ministry)

Ur dads car would smoke that. Solid cam is an EASY 20-30 hp over that hyd. I run the 274h in my 383. It just doesnt compare to solid cam. With that motor the best u would see is prolly a 12.3-12.6.
