Who wants Valve Covers?

Well, I know that they don't sell valve covers for us (or I haven't seen any) but I've been talking to a guy that does GREAT work powdercoating. There's a couple of his pictures below.

He has a few different colors available...I think I'm going to go with blue anodized. He doesn't just do valve covers either...he also does other items....he even quoted me on my MPFI intake and plenum.

For those of you who don't know, Powdercoating is when you spray a layer of colored powder on it... and then you have to bake it to cure the powder. It's better than paint once done.

V6 Valve Covers <-------------------- $20/pair
Strut Tower Brackets (top) <---------$20
V6 MPFI intake, Plenum, Runners <----- $75

Are the prices I received as a ballpark quote for a regular color (anodized is usually $20 over base price). Turn around is about 2 weeks on these.

Right now I'm just gauging interest for a possible group purchase, but if you'd like to contact him for a price quot, the email is
coatings@bronze.svol.net

BTW, I know that advertising isn't supposed to be on this board, but then again, where else are you going to find V6 valve covers? For those of you who drive your car everyday, do like I'm doing...buy an extra set at a junkyard for $5-10 and then send THEM off to get coated.

That's a JameX STB bracket above...

Nah KJ...he'll powdercoat in the color of your choice ones you supply. You can always get a spare set at a junkyard for $5-10 or if your car is down and you can spare 2 weeks.....it's a good deal.

He has a chrome-like color too as you can see above.

This is the only solution I've seen for the lack of valve covers for us..plus it's cheap, and you can pick your color.

This is one of my old pics. The runners are on the plenum (the cast tubes going from the center out) and the middle plenum also are the runners.

Yes the Edelbrock covers will work, but I was reading through my catalog they sent and they don't have the baffle plates need to help keep to much oil bypass from entering the induction system. So I would stick with modifying your stock covers the way you like.

When I cleaned my IAC and throtle body it was black as coal. I don't think we need any more oil and other crap flowing in.

Ceramic coating Won't burn off, but I have been told that NORMAL powder coating is a no go on headers.

Had my exhaust manifolds hi temp coated after I smoothed and polished them. Looks great and has been on since Feb. Still looks as good as day one.

Also we are going to try fiero valve covers on my beast. They are aluminum & have raised lines that runn the lengh of the cover that will look good polished. I will paint them Candy apple red and polish the raised lines. I will post pics when I'm done.

I am upgrading to an 8, but its a long show season. I want to finish it out before I swap the engine. We put so much work into fixing up the bay, I want it to have a full season. So far people are really responding to it. I got alot of compliments on it at the F-body Gathering today. No one said anything about it just being a V-6.

I got the valve covers for $5.00 at a local yard and figured what the hay. It's different and will look great with my other polished pieces. And its not too bad of a swap.

I'd be down for a group purchase of valve covers and intake plenum. I was just at the junkyard today over here and i saw tons...literally tons of intake plenums and valvecovers that were in good condition....

I'm not sure. If I end up at the bone yard this weekend I will if they can come out, or if they are welded in place. It would be nice if they could be. I Plan on making a trip either this weekend or next weekend. I want to pick up a spare head or 2 to do a test port and polish.

I got those from street and performance. Call 1(501)394-5711 ask for Lambert and he'll get the hook up, tell him Michael sent ya. I'm going to see if I can get a set of silver plug wires, I dont like the hunter orange wires any more.

Tomp,

When I was at the bone yard today I looked inside of the valve covers and the bafles are welded in place. I personaly wouldn't want to use one with out them. It helps keep oil from entering into the intake from the PCV system.

All though I did score some factory spark plug wire routing clips. I was able to get a hold of the drivers side rear and the passenger side forward ones. So I am half way to having a complte set.

sorry about that guys but they forced me to take action.

sometime you must poke the sleeping giant to get his attention. I asked about it several times befor and got no real answers why there was no sig limit. when they use to be one.

i can care less about a SIG, but I feel they have/or need to set a proper limit. 5-10 lines.

like I need to see 3 pargraphs of some dorks whish list of parts he will never buy.

no offence to the dorks who have them but, its so lame it sickens me.

all you need to post is a time slip and some general performance info, if you have anything exciting someone will ask for detail specs, then feel free to post them.

I have the edlebrock covers on my 2.8(bought them from CC Hotrod about 2 years ago).I bought a set of inserts that have the oil baffles on the bottom. It's all made of rubber. The bottom of the inserts have the opening on the side, not the bottom, the oil comes from the top of the valve train so I turned the inserts to where the opening faces the bottom on the valve train. Its hard to explain with out pics.
Going on 2 years with no blow by.

The Fiero Valve covers do have the baffles. They take different gaskets though. We will be polishing them up and putting them on soon. I will be sure to post some pics and let everyone know how they fit.

First off...I would love to know where you got the inserts so that I can pick myself up a pair of those Edlebrock covers. I have the stock covers off right now. It would make things a bit easier on the amount of work.

OR

I used a chemical dip to remove grime off of ONE of the stock covers and it stripped the paint off (wasn't too concearned about that, was going to paint them anyhow) but there is what seems like a coating on the inside which it also stripped off. I didin't know it was there!!!

Do you guys know if this is just paint? Is it actually just grime that looks like a coating? The reason I think it is a coating is because when I scraped the gasket off the one I didin't dip, I had scratch marks down under them and what looked like a black surface on top of the metal.

What would I need to do to prep it for one of those poweder coatings, the chrome-look actually looks nice. Do I have to re-paint the inside?

Thanks all.
