Here's what I had to do to the stock plenum for a 58mm TB
And I really think that more welding and grinding would make it fit better. Had to have the outside walls welded up so I had more material for the transition into the plenum. The 58 is just huge, no question about it. Heres some pics:
Before I started cutting:
After the plenum was welded and holes drilled:
This is the driver side welded area, more would have been better.
Size diff? NAH.

Its a 350 with Vette AL heads, SLP cam (224/232 variety), 10.3:1 compression, siamesed base, other requisite parts. I've had visions of Miniram's and AFR's dancing in my head for quite a while, this is just another step in that direction... Thats if I ever get my TB back. I'm still saving judgement on that but I'm a little unhappy. Eventually, somehow, this car will be in the 11's one way or another, even if I have to push it there

Why is it when ever I talk about a 58 mm throttle body for my 355 they tell me its to much.
?
I want to keep my tpi set up for now...upgrade to 24 pound injectors...58 mm to give her more air right?
more fuel..more air...then just need hmmm...what else...

Well, I think it is a bit big for most 350's. A 52 or the rumored 54 I have heard of (I think its a Holley?) would probably be a better idea for most people. When I first got the 58, I opened the box and looked at it... Trust me, this thing is downright huge. It dwarfs the plenum and the plenum itself really looks too small for such a big TB. I have no results yet on if theres any improvement with it or not, I dont have the TB right now and I'm not sure when I am getting it back. Maybe if you have future plans of a Miniram, Superram, LT1, power adder, its not a bad idea at all. Otherwise I think I'd just go for a smaller one. Easier to fit to the stock plenum as well. I just recently watched Kevin's car break into the 12's and I think he's running a 52 with an airfoil, its definitely not a 58.

Provided everything goes smoothly soon I will put my 406 LT1 in I am using the stock TB. I really need to know what happens. Unless someone has done similar things like this??

I assum a stock tb with an airfoil, but you won't lose that much, down low you'll stay about the same, up high (read 5500 rpm and up) you might lose 10-20 hp if you use a killer cam and heads.
If you go middle of the road, it'll be less than that. Remember with an airfoil the stock TB flows around 750 cfm, which is the carb size most recommened for street stuff, AND while I forget the exact formula dry flow is supposedly equal to something like 10-20% more than wet flow.

I am using a 244 244 cam like you have in you superram car. Also, my afr 190s and 10.7 to one compression with an LT1 manifold. If I spin to 6500 rpm I will need 763 cfm. Ok, so I have a TB imposed 6400 rpm limit. I will be fine. I plan on 6000 or less rpm anyway. PLUS I AM ASSUMING 100 PERCENT VE!!!!!!!!!!!
Even using a very high .89 VE i can go to 6500 easily. Is my logic correct?
