Distributor module burning out

Help!
I've gone through 3 power modules in a year!
What could be causing this?

Getting stuck on the freeway sucks. Now I drive with a spare module in the trunk.

Any ideas? Could it be a bad battery ground?

(no msd anymore)

check all the harness grounds and make sure ur wires and coil are in good shape. alot of problems can be traced back to a previous repair or modification

I had a similar problem on my car and I found a frayed wire in my distributor and the pickup coil had rust on it. I had to replace my distributor and so far its running great!

A friend of mine just put a tpi speed density system in his truck and keeps blowing the distr. Module out. It'll start the first time he turns the key but as soon as he shuts it down, poofff, it's history. Never did it before the swap and I can't find anything. All grounds are good, He went from the in cap coil type to the newer external type.

Shame too, he threw his hands up and the thing has been sitting for weeks now after spending a few k on it....
