Swapping Speedometer question?

I was thinking of taking the 85mph cluster out of my '86 z28 camaro, and replacing it with a 145mph gauge cluster off ebay. What all does that require? like making the new gauges work correctly? what all do i need to do?

Re: Swapping Speedometer question?

Thank you for asking this question. I apologize that i could not answer, but i REALLY want to do this same thing in my 84 Firebird. Maybe not 145 but at least 110 or 120. Seen Both, wouldnt mind either. Sorry again this isnt an answer

Welcome to TGO. A search on site is always a good thing.

The swap for your Camaro is plug and play; however, to avoid electrical gremlins which occasionally crop up, I'd recommend that you simply swap the 145 speedo head into your current cluster (providing it functions as designed).

I'm less knowledgeable about the birds. An 84, IIRC, is mechanical so finding something above 85 mph may be difficult.
