I've got a 1990 Camaro RS with a 350 in it. What im wondering is, my dash lights dont work but the gauges do and the overhead lamp dont work i pulled apart my dash and all the bulbs are fine so i checked all my fuses and their all fine. Wondering what could cause this. Also, my headlights stay on bright had to unplug my brights for them to not shine. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS STUFF PLEASE HELP ID LIKE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT!!
i have that problem too but some of my lights work like the high beam symbol. the majority of them dont work though so i know its not bulbs and i checked my fuses already.
The high beam headlights issue - there is a switch under the steering column above the brake pedal - remove the underdash cover, get on your back in the seat with head in the floorboard and a small flashlight, and watch the rods that come from the steering column down - there is one rod that activates a switch - this is the high beam switch - loosen the bolt slightly and slide it upwards just a hair so that the rod will push the switch and activate it - then tighten it back down. It's a very thin line between the switch getting activated and it being too far - especially with a tilt column. Adjust the switch for the position you normally tilt the column to, and leave it. Then, ONLY change from hi to lo when the tilt wheel is down in that position.
i hope someone has a solution to this. mine dont work either but my interior lights work fine. i'm going to go through it all tomorrow. i'll post my findings once i figure something out.
Im surprise Gm never did a recall on the high beam switch. In order for my high beams to work I need to tilt the stearing wheel down-left then activate the switch then they work but not at a normal position though. Couldnt never figure why it does that.
did a little more searching. found this post http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/el...-problems.html (Dash light problems) its for firebirds apparently birds have a second dimmer module. ehh read the post you'll find out. gonna check mine out tomorrow. might not me able to buy one right away but soon very soon.
So does anybody have a pic or diagram of where these switches i should check are or what they look like i crawled under ther today and.. ye.. theres alot of stuff down there lol

For the high beam switch? Look and watch while you pull the lever - you'll see the rod moving and trying to push the end of the switch.
