Electrical Gremlins

Ok here goes....
I've looked through alot of these posts and will continue to do so.
Here is the situation: 89 Formula, 350/5-Speed (Converted with the help of a 89 Camero). Intermitted electrical problems, lights will not turn on, gauges go crazy when I try to turn lights on, push brakes or use turn signals. Thats one major problem right now....it's keeping me from driving it right now
The other problem is a high idle. I have replaced the throttle position sensor and cleaned the egr valve.... I'm kinda out of ideas for this problem, right now its idling at around 1100 RPM.....very anoying....
Please any help would be appreciated..
Johnny

Re: Electrical Gremlins

My experience-- gauges acted up similar to that.Turned out to be a wrong wire harness for the tail lights. Some one had put in a Pontiac harness
A TGO member walked me thru it to find the prob.

The only thing I can think is make sure all grounds are clean & tight,
battery posts are clean,& basicly look for bare wires.

Re: Electrical Gremlins

Ok got it.... I gotta remember the KISS principle= Keep It Simple Stupid.... lol
Turns out my battery had slid over and arched the positive wire...to include my power wire for the amp. So looking a little closer revealed that the amp wire was causing all the grief.... When dissconnected everything went back to normal. I put a new butt connector on it, secured my batt, replaced positive and negetive cable connectors and she's u[ and purring!
Thanks for your suggestion though I appreciate it!
