HELP!!! my car died. Heres the story, i took my car to get painted and i got it back and noticed my interior lights were out. Checked the fuses and one was blown, 15 amp. controls stereo, guages, interior lights, and so forth. replaced the fuse.... Drove to work, on the way there i noticed my battery gauge wouldnt go above 10 and my sub amp wasnt on. drove a lil while longer got to work turned the car off, low and behold it wont start. let it sit go out starts up fine on its own. turn it off go out to check it later, wont start and the lights all power is out in the car. recheck all fuses under the dash there fine. play with some batter terminals and the fuse box lights come on and i can start the car. and move it, i drove home and after 45 min the batter guage droped into the red and a mile after that there was a pop and i lost power (interior and gauges still on) and of course the car wont start at all after that and lights dim and stuff. So next day i pull the altenator and test it. its bad i guessed that i have to wait till tommorow to get another, but my question is could it be something else as well? also i found a fuse in my hatch one of the big black rectangular box ones, that i didnt put there, i dunno where its from. theres no fuse box under the hood... help me out i need ideas....

 

Sounds like you just lost an alternator and the fuse was probably coincidence(sp?). I can't think of any type of big rectangular box type of fuse. Sure it's not some sort of relay??

 

That black box is a relay for the tail lights.I agree with sgtskip sounds like the alt took a ****.
