What's causing me to get shocked??

It just started doing it lately, everytime I exit my car after being driven I go to close the door and get shocked. It's not your average little shock that you get from most cars but it always surprises me when it happens and caused me to jerk my hand away. What could be causeing it?

I have the same problem also and I have found that a lot of cars do the same thing. I first thought I had a bad ground, but when it is warm outside it doesn't happen. Static electricity?

It's just a static charge building up on the car from the tires. It's worse when the air is dry becuase the charge doesn't bleed off. Maybe you guy's don't notice it as much down there, but it's a way of life up here, especially in winter.
