I'm having problems with my climate controls (digital dash push-button style).

I have to push the buttons back and forth between off and the desired mode such as heater to get the blower to activate. It does not matter what speed the blower is set at or what climate control is being pushed. It seems to me like the contacts are dirty is this common in these cars or is it something else causing this?

Also my battery drains overnight, which I am looking at this weekend with a multimeter and pulling fuses. Would this be in any way connected with my climate control situation?
