Hedman 1 5/8 long tube questions

I've done some searching through the archives and still have questions.

I have a pair of these and am planning on doing a 3" dual for my weekend race car. My question is who has installed these? What did you need to do? I don't have any A/C or emissions/computer crap on this car so thats not an issue. My main concerns are will I need a mini-starter? I also read in the archives that these headers come very close to the fuel/brake lines so will that be an issue? And last... What kind of spark plug clearance is there with stock L98 heads?

I'm in the middle of installing my Hedman's. So far I've got the right side on and starting on the left. For the right you have to remove the starter, bolt on the header. I think the starter should fit but I haven't put it back yet. On mine, one of the primaries was just barely touching the line to the vapour canister(which you might not have).

For the left side it looks like the brake lines need to be bent out of the way. And I have a 5-speed so it looks like I'll be doing some grinding/banging on other crap.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and try this. I just really don't want to have to go out and buy a mini-starter or other expensive stuff. I wanna get this car running. Anyone else have any experiences with these headers?

The starter went in with no problems. You will not need a mini-starter.

How about your plug clearance? I'm going to order some Hooker Aero-chamber mufflers later today and get to work on these things. Time to bust my knuckles and throw tools.

Hey! I got aerochambers too. I'm going with dual 2.5"

I got the driver's side on. I had to raise the engine then remove the oil filter and cooler(damn I got a shower of oil AND coolant). Removing the wiper motor gave more room to angle the header in to place from above.

Still haven't tried putting the plugs back yet.
