t-tops

Hi,

Anyone have any idea why T roofs from an
84 Z28 would NOT lock in place on a 89
formula?

Thanks!

Im not really sure, ive read numerous posts about this though. Its very odd, it works for some people, but wont for others. I cant find any information about the t tops as to whether they changed them slightly, but I think that they might have changed the locking system later on. Maybe the 84 doesnt have the same locking mechanism. Not sure though...

Nope, they won't. They have different latching mechanisms. There are hook and bar mechanisms. I can't remember which is on which but I tried putting 83 tops on my friends 87 and they wouldn't work.

82-84 tops use latches or hooks, 85-92 use pins. Also some use a frame, others just have the glass all the way to the edges, also there are aftermarket t's. In other words, don't buy ttops without seeing if they'll fit your cars body first.
