350 Miniram AFR Combo

So, here's my plan:
ZZ-3 short block w forged flatops (already have)
Miniram (already have)
30 lb injectors
AFR 195's pn 1040 w/upgraded valve springs
Comp cams 280 xfi
pro mag lifters
ultra pro mag 1.6s
Trick flow hardened push rods (already have)
I'll have to run the oem 85 ecu still, for now, which sucks ***** i know.
I plan to get dfi in future. Its very common parts, but it should make good power (430ish) maybe more when tuned. Its in a 85 Z28 street/strip.
Anyone else running the same combo? Any yays or nays?? Thanks for your help!!!!!

Re: 350 Miniram AFR Combo

If your keeping it on the street, that cam maybe a bit on the large side for a 350. It will wanna rev to 6500 for sure.

Im running a Miniram'ed 383 running a TPIS ZZ409 cam with 1.6rr and put down 413rwhp. Last year I put in the XFI 280 cam and put down 411rwhp after tuning? So for me, I went with the smaller ZZ409 for my street duty.

Yeah, I'm planning on shifting at 6200-6300. It is a street car, but not my dd.
What rpm did your car peak at with the different cams?
What heads are you using?
Sweet car btw. Thanks for the input.

Im running Trick Flow 23* heads that have been ported to flow 266 cfm on the intake and 205 on the exhaust I think. I pulled over 400rwhp @ 5400 and peaked 413 around 5700 ish. But I dident get a chance to tune for my LT and 4" exhaust system yet.

After installing the XFI cam I remember making 411rwhp around 6k, but I picked up a miss just after that and realized it was the rev limiter, LOL. I ran outta time on the dyno shortly after that but it dident seem to want to make anymore power after 6k, so I left it at that.

So after seeing what my motor was making powerwise with both cams, I decided to go with the smaller ZZ409 for my street duty, it made a few more ponies @ a lower rpm and gave me a bit more vaccume for the street. Right now I just got her back on the street so Ill have to get back to the dyno and tune for the ZZ409 and see what I come up with for max power. With the better flowing Eliminator heads, I may have made more power with the XFI cam in my car.

Combo should work well, but I don't think you'll like the way it runs with EFI.

I'd upgrade the ECM, disable closed loop, etc.
