Well, I've done a search and I don't think I saw another thread that had this question. So here's my question...

How much of a bad idea would it be to sand your car to bare metal and prime it (and leave it primed or clear coated)?

Primer doesn't seal the metal, but some clear on it would probably be ok. Why do you want to bring it down to metal?

If your going all the way to bare metal,??? you better put a good epoxy primer/sealer over it asap. Like stated, regular laquer primer doesn't hold out moisture. Clear wouldn't really be a solution either.

The cars been into an accident and when I got it repaired the body shope used some bondo to smoothen out the dent's (I think). Well my car got a few dent's in the same place that got hit in the accident and now the bondo's cracked along with the paint. So I believe that left the body (metal) partially exposed. I don't have the money to take it a body shope. So now what I want to do is get rid of all the bondo and the previous paint and just prime the whole car until I can actually get a good paint job.

What are you going to put in place of the bondo? Would'nt that leave it pretty un-even?

I don't really mind it being uneve...I more worried about the body rusting.
