k i spent like 4 hours cleaning and shineing my engine yesterday along with waxing and cleaning under the hood. today i planned on getting all the black tar stuff off the engine bay. i did some research it can come off with engine degreaser. anyway i went canadian tire and asked some girl in the parts section what engine degreaser i should get. she tells me nothing can get that stuff off. its put there to protect the engine bay from rotting and if i did get it off everything would rust. i no that stuff comes out because people on this board got it out, but since this lady dont seem to no anything, what engine degreaser should i get? also is it bad to clean all that stuff up?

In my own experience, anything tar-like (especially the stuff off the roads) is easily taken off with WD-40. Don't know much about the underhood stuff though.
i just tryed that super clean stuff in a purple bottle, it did nothing!!! and its suppost to be the best. what did u guys use?? this black stuff is like 1cm thick

are you sure its not an undercoat like it has been zbart or rustproofed?
