Need Opinions & Advice on Paint.

Ok so I am painting my Camaro...black with lime green true fire flames. I will be buying all the equipment myself to be painting it and of course I will be practicing on other things other then the car lol. The paint will not go on my car until its right and approved.

But I heard alot of suggestions. Like don't go Jet Black..and try to find a black with slight blue tint. Or don't pin stripe the flames...which is not what I was planing on doing anyway. And I do want it to be lime green and I do want the green to pop out like its on fire. I was thinking on using a few different colors of lime green to give it more depth. I also was thinking and throwing in some small glitter flakes and 2 different colors of green to give it the appearance of light since fire...moves, makes heat, light. I have thought of mixing two colors and making a chameleon type of paint. But I am not sure, how that would look. I have a pic of a Camaro that I do NOT own. I don't know who the owner is and if you are on this site lol. Sorry! Because that's pretty much what I wanted on Camaro exactly only a different color but I promise I will switch it up a bit.

The picture below this one is an example of how I want the paint to pop and its a picture of someones motor out of a mustang.

And on the inside I was gonna paint around the molding on the dash and such like a lime green tinted smoke...but very little lime green just enough to make it look like...its coming from those flames. And I have thought of doing a glow in the dark paint with that. But just help give me some ideas considering I don't really know that many tricks and types of paint.

So give me whatever your advice or opinion is. Besides the opinion that I shouldn't do the lime green flame thing..because that's definitely getting done. Would be great to hear from yall.

And once again to make it clear so I don't step on anyone's toes. Neither of these photos is my work or property its just for reference.

I understand the look your after, and the lime green would look good I think. now comes the tricky part, those realistic fire flames are all done with airbrushing, youd have to get an airbrush kit to do that kind of work, and lots of practice as well. Personally go ahead and paint the car black, then youd have to guestimate were you want your flames at, because with airbrushing theres no masking of your work and just painting it, you have to move around at angles, and go heavy and light to get the desired effect, plus use some templates, small shapes you hold lightly off the surface (no touching the car) and airbrush around those to get your base flame angle, gives it the 3-d depth look, then flow out your lines to make it look like flames. theres I guy i've seen do that on rides, and overhaulin who does the best flame work ive ever seen, and thats how he does it. Also check out this video on youtube, goes through the whole process, looks lengthy and very involved, but Im sure if thats what you want to do, it will be worth it, and just imagine how cool it would be to do that yourself and maybe make some money doing it for other people too, heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PZNlqkAjMg
good luck, and dont forget to post up some progress pics along the way

I like where you are going with it. I think you've got a great idea - especially with blending the greens. It should stand out and look very sharp! Good luck and please keep us posted!
