I was surffing Supercars.Net and i realized, What has GM done. Our lives are been changed, no long will we able to say we own a car that changed a industry in 1967 when the Firebirds and Camaros were introduced to beat the living crp out of corvettes and mustangs. A heritage of horse power and muscle. I ask my self why has GM bestowed upon us a grime future on horse powerless cars, with 4 cyl engines and top speeds below 110 mph. Leaving power only to truck to hall heavy loads. Where has the excitement gone of putting 400 hp under the hood and letting it rip?
Now we have nothing, nothing at all, our horsepower is gone while corvettes and mustangs rule the road. We need to bring back the power or this will be our future

a rear-wheel-drive 2.2-liter DOHC supercharged EcoTec four-cylinder engine generating up to 240 horsepower with premium fuel mated to a Borg-Warner performance six-speed manual transmission, the same one used in the Corvette.
Why, why should we put up with this, I think gm needs to take a look back at our Heritage and breath life back into our cars.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I would never drive that peice of roadster, four banger S**t. A four cylinder will never EVER feel as good as the raw power of a V-8. Long live the F-Body!!

No need for posts like this!! The F-Body will be back (Firebird is still questionable) and GM will be changing for the better soon. U will see performance there again in alot of ways. Everything will be cool.

i would never drive that either. im 6'9'' and i just barely fit in my bird. how's that for thirdgen enthusiasm
I would not like to see that car with the name Firebird on it, it's exactly what our car don't stand for. Who would say muscle car looking at that thing, to be honest with you all, it looks like a Porsche on crack or something.

hey what about that ugly SSR thing. also, i saw the feb. motor trend and they had a huge article about alternative fuel cars and stuff like that. anyone else seen it? so this is what GM has come to. They are gonna make gas/electric hybrids just like honda
Supreme Member
sorry I just didn't like the way that came off sounding. Yeah I thought those SSR things were supposed to replace the F-Body??? Man I hope not!

You guys forget GM is a business... the biggest in the automobile industry. Their goal is the make money. The F-body was not selling, so the select few that like it (us) are a minority.
If you owned a store and you sold a product that 1 out of every 1000 people wanted, you made very few if any money off it. Are you going to keep it or replace it with a new product.
Most every car dies off sometime. Hopefully the classics will remain and become collectors and GM will produce a new performance car. A car does not die off when they quit making it...
These cars will be around for another 30 years atleast. Don't worry about it.

how can GM expect a product to sell itself? I rarely saw advertisements of the firebirds or camaros.

2nd, by saying there is no need for it I meant (1)This isn't appearance or detailing(2)Its been posted so many times before(3)it will start misinformation and rumors by people that have no idea what they are talking about(4)because if u read my post I'm letting u know (reassuring) that there will be a 5th Gen and performance at GM will be getting better in all of their cars. How do I know these things?? I just do.
Thanks for misinterpreting.

You've never heard of a camaro? Advertising is not the death of the f-body by no means. Yes, I'm sure it effected it in someway, but not enough to kill it off. Times have changed, people want smaller cars, smaller engines. The majority leads, and always will. I will always prefer the sound of the V8, the Torque of the V8... but it's not my choice. As stated above, it's a business.

If u don't want to listen fine. I'm just giving u guys the hope I know any enthusiast would like to be in on as I was when I found out. I DO know there will be a 5th Gen, some others do also. Don't believe GM doesn't know yet, they do. They have been thinking way ahead, listen to Ions91. The Camaro will be back, and from what I have learned, performance will be incredible. Everything I know comes from people that work at GM, not a rumor. The only thing I have little information on is the Firebird.Originally posted by No4NJunk

Yeah, the Firebird is questionable. I really think Pontiac is going to be trying something different this time and might go with no F-Body. THAT is rumor.

No4N,
LOL, I was a mod 4 different times on 4 different boards on this site since I've been here and probably would be again if I asked or was asked to be.
I never said anything like u did. No, I don't know everything about it. Not many do, but I follow this stuff like crazy and have gotten what I said from some very important people in GM. Maybe u are proving u know nothing about it.
Excuse me for maybe giving a little hope to others that might be losing it and getting frustrated with this.

I was wondering why who had so many posts!!! Anyway..I have an uncle who works for GM. Last I talked with him he said he wasn't sure what was happening with the f-body but he didn't think it was going to be good. I am only as knowledgeable as my sources. Maybe that makes me an idiot...I don't know.

No4N, n/p.
I know GM doesn't let all of its employees in on stuff. I wouldn't post uninformed BS.
Its just that when rumors get started it stinks and makes others start thinking there will be no 5th Gen and that the M*****g is going to win after all these 35 (1/2) years. I don't think so. Not if the Camaro has anything to say about it. Wouldn't it be something if while the F-Body is on hiatus, they put the M*****g on hiatus or something before the F-Body came back?!?!

But if they had proudced the cars they would be making more money off fbodys then they are making off the corvettes.
IROCZTWENTYGR8: sorry to tell you, but mustang already did win. GM officially stopped production of the F-bod. I still would rather have my camaro though............. or maybe a ROUSH STAGE III
firearm: You think that Banshee pos could hang with the new vette? You have to be joking!

The F-Body is on hiatus.
There will most likely be many more years of F-body vs. M*****g.
The Corvette took some time off, why can't the F-Body??

No4NJunk,
Good for you. I attempted to end it just above, but you've been nice enough to bring it back. Sorry you feeling pissed, best of luck to you...
IROCZTWENTYGR8,
I remember along time ago, I had thought you mentioned who you heard information from, did you? Or could you tell us who or where from?
Also, from what I last read Holden may bring some of their cars over here. Hopefully, they will follow up with the rest of their line up.
As for where GM is heading, check out this article.

Bob is hopefully going to lead us the way to performance.

Nothing wrong with a mustang, the new cobras have been pulling 270-290 RWHP on the dynos and running 13.1s
Not bad in my opinion.
Not bad in my opinion.
Thats true. you know in 84 not one corvette was sold that year, the Fbodies had just as much horsepower and better handling then the vette but for less money. Thats the reason why to this day Trans AMs and Z28s have 325hp and the vettes have 405hp, GM promised to never show up the corvette again. They thought it looked bad for the company.
i'll post pics on the Banshee and Camaro CA tommorow

Fiream, not to accuse you of being wrong here, but why in '87 did the grand national beat out the vette (in terms of HP and 1/4). Or was it a mistake again. Also the Syclone and Typhoon did it again in 91-92 I believe?
I've also noticed that with the vette, hence the 345 hp yet camaro has 305 but when you dyno them the vette might have 5 or 10 more.

Yeah thanks, would ya. Its been a while since I've seen or even heard of them.
In regards to Bob Lutz, Chevrolet also hired the homo that designed the PT cruizer.... I think they need to forget about these gay gimick cars and make something fast. If they mess with the vette, I'll never own another GM.

Ions, u are in the right mind with this also.
I don't really think I should say where I heard it and who from because it could mess up this particular persons credibility/job. I can say whatever because I don't work for them, but I'll have to keep that information to myself. I don't like this thing anymore than any1 else, and neither do alot of people in GM.

johnyIROC,
That's coming up very soon with the C6. I doubt they will stray too far from the C5 design however. The C5 was a very good seller for the vette. With the new Z06 from what I understand they are slowly working on turning it into a viper killer. Which it runs with them now, but when the new viper comes out it come be a problem. I'm sure you all have already heard about the rumored 427 alum block they think might go in the new 50th anniversity vette. I doubt it, but I sure as hell hope it happens.

I just read in a magazine about how they just found the tooling for the all aluminum 427 that was used in the 70's. They found it like in a corner of a warehouse or something. They fixed up the tooling and are pouring new blocks!

The Banshee is hideous. Good thing it was never produced. Maybe it's the off set colors or something.
IROCZTWENTYGR8,
I've noticed that as well, sort of like a seabring. Even knowing that, I'd give my car up in a heartbeat for my brothers '99 SS. The '98 SS camaros are the one of the best looking F-bodys to me.

U can say what u want about B.L. but this guy is going to be responsibe for alot of good stuff for GM. Much better than the previous people who made GM what it currently is right now and what most of us aren't cool with.
