That's Pacific Blue to be specific and about 80% done in the pic. Still need to get some crease/wrinkles out, but i can drive it to work now. Special ordered this from Robbins Auto Top. Took me all weekend to get to this point. Forum member Pocket just did a top install, so i just decided to show the almost finished project. Also redoing my headliner/visors in faux suede.
Interesting. When I read the title I was skeptical, but I must admit that I dig it. Looks nice and definitely a unique combo on these cars. Back window looks crystal clear. Oh, and I noticed the door handles as well. Nice job. Have you already done all the weatherstripping? If so, I might hit you up for some pointers. I need to replace my weatherstripping soon.
Thanks guys. Yes, I did the weather stripping some years back. Happy to help out.
I'd been trying to locate a factory blue top, but when I saw how dark it is. I thought it was black. While this one a little lighter blue than I wanted. I think it matches well.
Being a Vert guy, let's just say the "jury is out" on that top color for me. I'm liking the body color, but for my taste I would have gone navy blue or black....but it's your car, and as long as you're happy, that's all that counts!!
I hear ya, but navy blue is just too dark for my taste. It practically looks black and black was the color top this car had before. Never liked the black on blue
The color is definitely unique for a 3rdgen, but it's the quality of the top looks impressive. Excellent, far better than ASC's quality.
How was the faux suede to install? Does it have a backing material, something like the factory foam or something else? I've considered a faux suede, anything else besides the factory headliner material. About the only good aspect of the factory foam is that it hides all of the imperfections in the fiberboard headliner construction. Other than that, ugh, there's gotta be something else, something better.
Kestell, the glass window was not an option for custom colors, but with another vendor could be possible.
LA, the faux suede is excellent, is has a foam backing and is ultra smooth and the cost is very low for a 5'x6' piece. I'd give it a try, got mine on eBay.
Installation was pretty straightforward, it just two pieces. The time consuming part was trimming it as I went along. I cut it slightly larger than needed, but it was just a matter of removing any slack. So its not sagging, of which there a bit of right now, but I'll trim more if need be later on.
Those are actually the vert visors, but they're slightly larger/wider cause my sewing machine wouldnt sew thru the visor board. So I had to make the stitch around the outside edges. Which made the visors about 3/4 wider. They do offer more coverage for blocking the sun. I'm liking them a lot, so win/win.
