ok I have an 85 trans am with 85 mph cable driven speedo and was wondering what would happen after 100mph would I break the needle or would it just stop?

IF there is no stop for the needle, it just keeps spinning & going deeper towards Zero..
It looks like it would hit the trip odometer button but not to sure
the 85 mph in my camaro just rests against the trip button
