its the hydraulics lever thing from under the hood.. wats it called?
mines f****d i think thats why my hood was cracked underneath, it wasnt bending properly, but i got a new ss hood so i better change that piece before it break this too.

Hood struts... You can generally replace both for 50.00 or less through classic industries or any other online store. I believe even cheaper through Autozone or something...

You need to find weaker struts for the SS hood or you'll likely damage that, too.

Yes . Just get the hood struts designed for the stock 82-83 fiberglass hoods. Im pretty sure the part # has been posted before, just do a search.

If you go to www.autozone.com , locate your region of living, search for hood or hatch struts, select your year, make, model, etc. of car, it will give you the p/n and the price to take to AZ (for your region). Assumption here - the MightyLift p/n should be good at any local chain store so you don't have to go to AZ specifically.

MightyLift pretty much makes the hood struts for all year, make & models of Firebird & Camaros. They also make the hatch struts for all years, makes, models as well. Price shouldn't be a concern if you want them to last. Most MightyLift struts also come with a lifetime warrenty.

Otherwise.. go pull some turds off a used car in the junkyard and then, revert to the top of this statement (unless, by fate, you somehow find some good one in the junkyard).
