****** mods if this is in the wrong forum or unacceptable, please more or remove - thanks! ******
Well I was driving several hours to get home this summer after a great vacation when I happened to spot a nice red IROC parked in some distant town outside a convenience store. It immediatly sparked my interest because it had an original style iroc hood with louvers etc but, but!, it had a 3" cowl. I pulled over and went into the store to find the owner of the car because I wanted to buy a hood just like it. After finding the owner he told me that he actually made the hood by modifiying it. He cut two lengths down the hood and pulled it up, added new sheet metal, then carefully stitch welded it. It looks perfect. He figured that he had about 80 hours into the metal work alone, plus time into putty, sanding, and paint.
To make a long story short I expressed great interest into purchasing a hood like it (as several other people have aswell). We exchanged contact information and he asked me to contact him early the following year. Well that was today. I called him up and he told me that he was in the market looking for someone to make a mould of his hood so he could start producing fiberglass replicas. There is going to be some inital expenses in getting this project come to life so he wants to get a guage of the market. I told him I'd ask around because I do know of a few people personally that are interested in such a hood, so i thought I'd come online and ask here.
Would anyone be interested in purchasing a 'stock appearing' fiberglass IROC hood that has a 3" cowl? I've searched the aftermarket and the only other hood that comes close is the turbo style. This hood looks more like a stock hood. I'm not asking for downpayments nor am I asking for commitment, I'm simply asking if there is anyone seriously interested in acquiring a hood in the future? Post here and let me know so I can pass this information on and perhaps get the ball rolling a little quicker.
Thanks!

Brisk where did you see this car?

Try a search for glass-tek and cervini on the web. I have a 4" glass-tek hood, and I think cervini makes a 3" one.

IROCNParts I seen this car in a small town called Osoyoos. The guy had just moved there from Arizona (or somewhere around there).
Lo-tec I'm pretty sure no one makes a stock style hood which uses the original iroc louvers etc.. I did check Cervini's and Glass-tek. They are indeed cowl hoods, but they don't look or appear exactly like an original Iroc hood (other then a cowl).
This is what attracts me to this hood because it maintains the stock appearance.
If you guys are interested, I'll see if I can get a pic or two posted.

There was a company in Portland, OR that made a hood like this. From what I recall, they sold 6 or 7 TOTAL. They no longer make them. You can see a picture on Blue502's car. It uses the stock louvers (his are painted white). Blue502 looked into getting more made, IIRC the guy still had the molds, I don't know if he every got anywhere on trying to buy the molds though.
