Hey folks! My first post here so I hope I'm not stepping into a heated topic.
I'm going to be looking at an '84 HO Trans Am this weekend. Looks like a nice original car, will be a fun project/driver.
I'm not particularly fond of the lower ground effects/moldings on those cars - I prefer the smoother firebird/formula look but options for nice cars are limited.
I've read some threads that this is an easy job to do but leaves some holes in the doors. I've also read that (on some years) the front and rear bumper cover moldings are part of the cover, and aren't removable.
Is that the case in '84? When looking at pictures, it appears the moldings on the bumper come off, too, but I wanted to see if anyone's done this.
Thanks!

yes the moldings on the front and rear bumpers will come off on the 84 but there will be some metal brackets to remove and then still some holes. The rocker panel ground effects have a bracket that is spot welded to the body with another bracket bolted to that one that the molding then attaches to.
so it is easy enough to remove the moldings from the car but the hard part will be fixing all of the holes
