So I know the inside of the door handle has a skinny metal rod used to activate the door latch. My question is, how does it all go together? I bought a new exterior door handle, and now I cant get it to work from outside the car. I put the plastic clip back on the rod to the handle and slid the rod into the hole on the top of the latch. It still won't work from outside the car.
Heres a video ... make sure its clipped at top correctly, and rod activates lower connection at the latch. Actual door latch may need to be reset, use a screw driver and push the latch keeper from outside, kinda reset it - hard to explain, play with it. But rod pushes down when outside handle is lifted.

Everything is put together as shown, but yet I still get nothing while trying to open the door from the outside.

Is the door handle cracked or bent? The little tab that connects to the rod may be bent out of shape not giving enough travel.
It's either that or you have the rods mixed up.
