Molded GTA door panels
hey all....
I recently purchased some door panels off ebay... I believe them to be the GTA molded door panels as the arm rest bolts up differently and there is a rather large bulge when compared to my original flat stockers...
not what i expected, and they need restoration... but cool anyhow....
now the question...
how the hell do i get these arm rests to bolt up? the bracket appears to be different...
anyone have a pic of their mounting bracket for the arm rest for these style panels? or can anyone give me an idea as to how to fabricate one?
thanks,
Sean

ohhh boy,
Well honesly the door panels will work with some modification to your door.
First thing is first, granted the molded door panels were standard on the GTA, BUT they are not exclusive to the GTA. If you got the Deluxe interior package you would recieve the door panels with the standard seats, if you got the articulating seats you also got the molded door panels, I think up until 88 or 89. (i can look it up if someone wants to know...
The mounting brackets are different on the deluxe style door panels, there slightly larger because the way everything mounts. You will also notice that there is also a single screw just behind the door handle. This is the attachment point for the plastic trim piece. for around your door handle and around the door lock switch.
If you have one of the later style door panels that has the arrow style door handle trim piece then your fine for that part. BUT if you have the early camaro/firebird rectangular trim piece then you will have to make some sort of bracket to mount the door panel.
In any case you will have to do some bracket making to get it all to work right.
hope that all made sence, and Good luck
John

I put those same panels on my T/A-it originally came w/the regular door panels--also had the square door handle bezel. All I had to do was drill a few holes in my old bracket that was riveted on the door--and I used my old armrests screws--because they were longer--didn't have any problems. So other then drilling a few holes, they're a direct bolt in.
