LS1 Rear E-Brake Cables

I just finished installing the e-brake cables on my 86 z28 with a LS1 rear end. I ended up using Raybestos p/n BC94597 because of the availability in my area. These cables are not a perfect fit, but you can make them work with a couple minor modifications. The problems you will run into are: 1)The metal rectangle is to small to fit over the arm that comes out of the back of the backing plate. 2)The cable is just a little to long to have it tighten up properly with the factory adjuster. 3)The cover for the cable is a little on the short side to run in the factory location. Now for my solutions: 1)You need to enlarge the rectangle, I put the piece in a vice and used a drill to remove the unwanted material. I would strongly suggest that you keep checking the fitment between each size of bit so you don't go overboard and make the cable un-useable. 2)What I did was remove the factory bracket off of the threaded shaft and drill the hole that is closer to the motor (when installed) to a larger size so that you can slide that part of the bracket right over the hex on the threaded rod. I didn't need to go very far to make it operate properly, and I still have some adjustment left. 3)Because the cable covers are short you need to route them in between the axle tubes and the sway bar to make the clip in properly at both ends. It seems a little tight but I don't think it will pose a real problem. Hope this helps you guys to get your e-brakes working.
