Ed,
Did you get something with the 13.5" done too?
I am looking at being right at 7.5" from center of spindle for clearance. I am probably going to have to get a more accurate measurement, and probably have you get a more accurate measurement to see if it will work. Or see if you can borrow a C5 front wagon-wheel for fitment.

The 14" was an easier go of it, the 13.4" will be the same but let me get this one set up and finalized first. In theory, all I'll have to do is move the holes inward .300" which is no biggie but it'll put those big *** caliper lugs closer to the bracket. I may be able to bum a wagon wheel from one of my local guys, and he has spacers to boot. I'll keep you posted.

As far as the subu and mits brembos go have you guys seen this, would this be work for mounting for us? It would be great if it did as those little kids that get those cars are always crashing them so its not hard to score a nice set of brakes cheap

Price that Firehawk bell and rotor and get back to me, please. I doubt that's anything close to a budget setup, no offense.
I have a set of Brembo Evo calipers in the shop and will work more with them as time allows but first things first. Pics of the full finished setup coming over the weekend.

As promised here's the pics:

7.5" from center to outside of caliper, 2" from hub face to outside face of caliper. The best part is that I didn't have to touch the caliper, my bracket clears it just fine.
Enjoy!

I'll have to verify the price of the loaded calipers again but it's looking right at $1000 or so off the top of my head..this includes everything you see and braided lines too. Give me a day or so to get the numbers correct. I'm also thinking these will fit a 17" wheel.

Ed,
THANKS. Those look great. If you could test fit a 17" wagon wheel, that would be huge for me, I think we are going to be right there, give or take 1/4" But I am a little scared to try it without really good measurements.
I'll e-mail you about some things, I obviously don't need everything there, I will need to work with you on what peices I need.
BTW, That does use standard hubs, not 1LE, correct?

Ed, one other thing, looking at it, is that 7.5" the furthest point? It looks like the ends of the caliper are thicker than than the center, what is the measurement at that point?

Yes, standard hub. I think I can contact a local guy this week to test it out. I'll get back to your message later today.Originally Posted by Dewey316

Take a closer look at the thread please. You'll need modified spindles, hubs, and brackets to install the calipers on your car...brake lines as well. 14" C6 rotor, STS-V caliper/pads, my bracket. Ideally this will run with a 1.75" spacer and 4th gen or C5 offset wheels. Originally Posted by Charged350

would be nice to know exactly what fits.. I am too far away in Idaho.
Hmm....so if I read through all 5 pages correctly...
Since I already have LS1 brakes, 1.7" spacers, and 17" WS6 4th gen wheels... I can buy the bracket from you Ed, get the calipers and lines and rotors, and then bolt them to my spindles that are already modified for LS1 brakes? Or are these spindles modifed differently still...???
Maybe I didnt read good enough!

Most, if not all kits, use the factory dust sheild holes that have been drilled and tapped for larger bolt holes. This one should be no exception, so you should be able to buy this and just bolt it on without any more modifications to your spindles.
Sweet.... C6 rotors, CTV-S calipers, Eds bracket, and some lines... Now...the hard part. Deciding if I want to do this to replace my LS1 brakes...haha.

Thanks Ed. Just e-mail me. At this point, I couldn't install them until after the holidays anyway, but I would like to get everything ready to roll, and also be able to machine the hubs for the diffrent rotors. Just let me know the price breakdown on the parts from GM, I think your guy was a little cheaper than my guy, but depending on timing, I may just need to go buy a set of rotors, so I can do the machine work on the hubs. I want to make sure before I spend to money on this stuff vs. wilwoods, that it will for sure clear my wheels.

Ho ho ho..Hi John, I"ll send you one out momentarily. I am making the brackets this week so I figure a week to get them back from plating unless you want them bare. Check your mail.
I ended up having to clock the caliper lower than pictured above to clear the casting and you'll likely have to clearance the bracket a bit but they'll fit. I'm also making a setup for Stevo and I'll make 5 pair of brackets for the 13.4" Z51 rotors, leaving 3 sets open for other members. Thanks fellas, Happy New Year!

John, I'll get with you tomorrow. First off, this setup is tight on the lower part of the spindle. Also, you must use the lower spindle bolt I provide with the bracket and it's a metric thread you'll need to tap for the lower spindle hole and trim the bolt to fit. The bolt has a very thin head which is necessary to fit between the caliper casting and bracket. Additionally, you'll have to clearance the caliper a bit in the area under the bolt head...it's that tight in there. Big caliper, not a lot of room. In order to fit the caliper is clocked very low on the rotor and I don't see any contact issues but you may if you turn the wheels to lock consistently. You will also need to run a brake line with a 90* lower fitting on the banjo bolt fitting. Other than that, the 13.4" Z51 rotors are a go as well for the CTS caliper. I tested this setup using a 17" x 9" wheel with a 4th gen/Corvette offset and a 1.75" total thickness spacer, obviously a 2" will give you more clearance. The caliper has less than 1/4" clearance to the wheel rim when fully seated..again, it's tight!

Pic of the type of bolt needed to be used and the spacer used on the caliper lugs between the bracket:

90* brake line fitting:

You'll need additional clearance here, even with the thin bolt head:

Clearance to wheel. I put tape on the caliper to protect it just in case it hit:

So the 14" rotor is for 18" wheels only, and the 13.4 c6 z51 rotor is for 17" wheels?
Or did you manage to get the 14" rotor to work on 17" wheels?
sorry, I am a bit confused after reading this thread. I only remember you saying that the 14" rotor worked, not what wheel size it would have to be used on
Also, I take it the 14" rotor you used was a c6 z06? would the stock cts-v 14" rotor work the same?
thanks!

Member Stevo just installed the 13.4" setup, here's the link. Check his post for specifics:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...ght=cts+brakes
I can't guarantee that NO 17" wheels will hold the 14" setup but I can't tell you that. Should you know the wheels you'd like to use I'll look into them for you, but I do recommend 18"s for the 14" rotor setup. The CTS-V wheels are 18" x 8.5" 42mm offset, Bolt Pattern: 6 x 115.
These rotors are C6 ZO6 and Z51 factory rotors. The CTS rotors won't work since they're 6 lug.

I KNEW that the cts-v rotors were 6 lug, too!
can you pm me with a price on the caliper brackets or post it on here? I want to run the 13.4" z51 rotors as I have 17" c6 Z06 wheels and I don't want to chance the 14" rotor rubbing.
If you have the ability to test fit that rim and see if the 14" rotor works I'd really appreciate it, but I understand if you don't have access to that wheel.
Am I correct in saying that I wouldn't need to machine down my NON 1LE hubs if I was using the c6 z06 rotor, and if I run the c6 z51 rotor I have to machine it? Or am I backwards?
Thanks!

The thing is that the ZO6 rotors have a radius on the inside that the hubs have to account for. It will all depend on what the OD of your hubs are as to whether you can use them as they are. I preradius all my ZO6 rotor spec hubs to they can be used on all C5 and C6 setups for this reason. Most of my kit brackets run $75-85/pr and are zinc coated as well.
I will go ahead and state that the 14" rotor will not clear a 17" wheel with that caliper, it's just that big. CTS-V wheels are 18" x 8.5".

Hi Ed, just another quick question before I get started on this project.
I currently run 2.25" spacers on the front of my car to make my 17x9.5 56mm offset rims fit.
Once I install the c6 z51 rotor , do you know how much farther out the brakes will move the wheel compared to the stock brakes?
I'd like to know at least roughly to see how much I'm gonna have to turn down these spacers.
thanks for all your help!

I just installed the 13.4" C6 Z51 rotors with CTSV 4 piston brembos and they clear C5 z06 wheels with a 2 1/4" spacer as well as they will clear 17x9" ROH Snypers(no spacers) so this setup should be clear other 17" ROH Wheels. I can post pics if anyone would like. This is pretty much the max size rotor, 14" will not fit.
Just some insight for those who were wondering.
