Edelbrock--WHY WHY WHY--HELP ME
I just took off the original q-jet and replaced it with a edelbrock 600cfm electric choke.(I believe its performance series) This was an hour ago. On my way home I encountered several problems. First of all the pedal is hard as nails. Secondly when I make a complete stop and then try to accelerate it stalls until I mash the gas harder.
Question: Can I run this carb minus the electric choke?
Question: What is the air/fuel setting?(the two screws in the front of the carb) How many turns in/out? left screw/right screw?
Right now I'm so teed-off
If you guys can help, it'll be highly appreciated.

while back, on my regal i did the same thing as you, swapped a edelcock carb out for my qjet and had the hard pedal as you have. i dont know if its the angle or what of the throttle, i dont know. did you change were your throttle return spring went to? If you moved it back farther, that might do it.
As far as the idle screws, about 1 1/2 turns out is base line, and you can either turn them in until the engine starts to cut out, then back it out till it smooths out, then go 1/4 turn more, its better to run a little rich than lean, because running lean causes bad things to happen. the best way to tune it is with a vacuum gauge, mess with the screws untill you get the highest vacuum.
you might have to change the springs on the metering rods, when you give it gas and the vacuum drops, the spring lets it get more gas.(I think I have that right) So out of the box might now work for you.
hope this helps. Jason
