I recently aquired the L69 Aircleaner and it doesnt fit around the base of the carb. Each bowl on either end of the carb have an adjustment that sticks up quite far. This wont allow the base of the aircleaner to sit flush against the base. I have an Air gap manifold that wont allow for me to add a spacer. I dont have a problem buying another carb that will allow for the base to fit. I wouldnt mind getting a larger carb that will work better with my setup.

THanks

What kind of cam is in it?

I'd suggest a Holley 6210, 650 spreadbore man sec dbl-pumper. I had its big brother 6211 (800 CFM) on a 400 I had (and hopefully will have again soon!!) in my 83 L69 car, the stock air cleaner fit perfectly.

Well if it's a bone stock L98, with the stock cam, you might want to consider a decent carb cam to go along with that carb, something maybe about like a Comp XR268..... the stock cam has a power band that stops at around 4800 RPM, like the TPI it was designed to go with, but your intake is set up for much higher RPM operation. So the cam peters out right about the time the intake gets started. You end up with the disadvantages of both (low-RPM sluggishness from the intake, and high-RPM dysfunction of the cam) without the benefits of either. Classic parts mismatch.

I personally don't like the 6210s at all...but RB is right that they will clear. Any other Holley won't unless you fudge the bottom of the air cleaner or put a short spacer between the carb and air cleaner..
