I am having a little trouble with the carb I have. It is a 750 VS. The problems I am having are that when I mash the pedal from a dead stop or moving slowly, it will stumble or hesitate and sometimes cause a stall. Also, if I am just cruising and start to give it some gas, it will hesitate a bit and seems like it is getting into the secondaries at about 1/4 throttle. I am experiencing quite a rich at idle problem as well. I have adjusted floats and idle mixture which helped very little. Should I rejet or look to adjust something else? If rejet, how much and just primaries or both? Thanks for any help.

Start by setting the float in the right spot and leaving it. That is to say, so it just dribbles out of the sight hole when you rock the car.

Then set the idle mixture. Use a vacuum gauge or A/F gauge to set it..then leave that alone too. If you can't get it leaned out, even with the idle screws closed, then it's leaking fuel somewhere else, probably a blown powervalve.

Do that stuff and let us know how it goes.

Hey PPon, what jets do you have right now? I just bought a carb just like yours, and I have the same heads you do, too. I was wondering where you decided to start for tuning purposes. Oh yeah, how mild is your cam?

Not sure on what jet size, haven't even started jet changes so they are still stock. But I know I need to go a step or two lower.
The cam I believe is .451/.451. Not positive, but is close. It's more of a truck cam for bottom end, low duration.
