time for compression check to see if you have a cracked or bent valve. Also double check your timing and inside the distributor cap.

How did you adjust your rockers? if you went too tight that could also cause this problem because the valves would not close.

Also make sure the distributor is not off if it was removed.

Sounds like you put you HEI back in 180 degrees off. I bet it doesn't even start... If it does, then you are a tooth off and running super advanced (like 15-20 degrees base advance).
