I currently have an 85 iroc with a 383 stroker and need to upgrade to a 90-92 ecm speed-density so as to have tuning ability and learn how to burn proms. I have read articles on upgrading an 85 ecm to an 86-89 and an article on upgrading a 86 to an 90-92. What is the procedure for an 85 ecm maf to an 90-92 speed density ecm. I dont know because the 85 ecm has the separate burn off module, which will be deleted, and it has a cold start injector that I'm pretty sure the 90-92 ecm did not. I would like to know if I can use the procedures for the 86 to 90 ecm swap or if I have to do more because it is an 85 ecm. Any help would be appreciated, posts or a certain tech article. Just point me in the correct location.
could somebody who has done the maf to sd swap tell me if I can simply change to a 730 computer as the tech article explains how to go from a 165 ecm 86-89 to a 90-92, 730 ecm, even though I have an 85, 870 ecm.

The MAF to SD article covering the 86-89 to 90-92 swap should be close enough to help you out. You can block off or just unplug the cold-start injector as it works with a temp switch and not by the computer.
