i have an 86 Z w/ 145 speedo(not sure if that means anything), anyway about two weeks ago the instrument light fuse blew. it looked like it was an OEM fuse so i thought no big deal. Replaced the fuse, and about a week later, it does it again! i replace the fuse again, last night it blows again. Im out of 5w fuses and its dark, so i grab a 10w and throw it in there. Still nothing. I try again with a 15, still nothing. The instrument lights dont seem to be working at all now. Could it just be that the circuit will not work w/o a 5w fuse? Also, does anyone have any clue why the fuse keeps blowing? The only thing that had been done to the fuse box in the last 3 months is tapping into a power lead for my stereo. Does anyone have any clue as to whats going on here?

EDIT: i just thought of something else that might be helpful. my T-yops leak like crazy in the rain. Could the water have shorted something out? It was dry out when the fues blew.

If your stereo is connected to the dash light circuit, try disconnecting it from the fuse panel & see if the short goes away. If not, the short is in the dash light circuit, after the fuse & you will have to isolate the short using an ohm meter. Did you add any lighted gauges?
