2 questions for the greese monkeys..

Hey everyone, wounderin if someone can help me out here. 2 questions-so my camaro originally was a v6, swaped it out for a carb. 350. 1974' sbc. the mechanical fan from the v8 wont fit with the v6 fan shroud. which i wanted to keep because of its paint and airbrushing on it. how can i hook up my v6 electric fan to it. I believe that the wires to the fan was connected to the ecu harness. which i dont have any use for now, just the primary wires in the 2nd major wire harness. So.. what triggers the fan to turn on ? and how can i wire that up to work, and not have it running all the time. i dont want to ghetto rig it.2nd. my gauge cluster. how can i hook up a cluster to the v8, when the v6 tach will be different from the v8. can i swap it for a cluster out of the 305 camaro's or iroc. and i mean the whole cluster, fuel speedo tach volt temp etc.?Thanks for the help.

You'll have to buy a kit to wire up the electric fans to go on and off . They have an article in the tech articles section about that . Yes , you can swap the whole cluster .

Re: 2 questions for the greese monkeys..

I have a 1975 carbed 350 motor under mine, or atleast i think i do haha, anyway, i have a electric fan in mine, when i first got it it didn't work, but a friend of my hooked it up for me when i was at lunch (so it shouldn't take that long), anyway, its run through a switch next to my cigarette lighter, only thing is, is that you have to make sure you flip the switch everytime you get in, it can be a pain in the ***.
ya you can swap them

You can get a switch that will turn them on and off by temp.
Summit or Jegs has them.
It may take a little longer to wire, as their is a little more involed then just powering the fan and grounding the other side.
