Alright first off i'm working on a 92 Camaro with a 305 with the 5spd transmission.
I bought a camaro that wont crank. when i put the key to the start posistion the temp guage maxes out and the brake light on the cluster comes on until i release it.
I didnt have a security light when i first started but after messing with stuff and changing the bad radio fuse i do. I'm not sure if changing the fuse is what made it turn on or me messing with the wires. Before i wasn't getting the security light during a bulb check either.
I replaced the ignition switch but not the key cylinder nothing, i tried to cut the wires going to the cylinder for the security system and took my spare key and taped the wires to both sides of the key. would that be the same thing as a vats bypass? I meausred the ohms on both keys and they are similar 5.98 or something really close to that. Is there a way i can find out what the computer is looking for ohm wise in the key? I know the starter works as i jumped it with a screwdriver. I dont hear the fuel pump at all and am kinda stumped on what else i should do. I read on another forumn maybe this one you can burn a chip for the ecu to bypass the vats system. Is this true? Any other ideas would be extremely helpful as I am pretty much stumped at this point.

You have other problems ; VATS only takes out the starter and injectors.Originally Posted by 1slowta

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse?
Checked for power at the fuel pump relay?
Jumper the OP switch on the block that also runs the pump, if the pump doesn't run you have no power from the battery

You still have to bypass the starter relay and it won't solve your pump not running problem
