If you switch the carb from computer controlled to non computer controlled you need to switch the Distributor to one with Vac advance right?

Ok thanks i was 99% certain I should but wanted to get some more input. Picked up an 86 firebird for my wife last week and noticed that it still had the cc distributor yet the cc quadrajet had been replaced with an edelbrock

Im not sure how i drove this car home... When I pulled the cap i noticed the rotor button was all kinds of F'd up and it didnt have any screws in it. but now the vac adv HEI is in and its doing great
