Pontiac 400 Tripod
Anyone know anything about this engine? I just came across one from my new neighbor, he said he has no more use for it and he would sell it to me with everything including the carbs for 700 bucks. He said it has 10,000 miles on it cause he took it out of a boat. I think it sounds like a sweet deal but what are the specs on these things and would it work with my 700r4?
Never heard of a tripod except to hold a camera in place.
You mean tri-power, aka 6 pack, aka 3 dueces. (3) 2 barrel carbs. if so that would make a cool project.
You would have to buy an adapter plate to mount the 400 Pontiac block to the 700R4's bolt pattern.
You may also have to adjust the driveshaft length to account for the adapter plate
All Pontiac V8s share the same external dimensions so the 350, 400, or 455 will fit in a 3rd gen. If I could do it over again I would have built a 455 Pontiac instead of a 350 Chevy. Well that will be the next incarnation in a few years. By then I'll be itching to change motors.
