Okay, I know this might be challenging, but would a LS1 from a 2002 Camaro work in my 1986 Camaro?

I'm using the best parts I can get my hands on to do my swap. I just about have every thing I need except the exhaust and intake. For all the swap parts so far , including the LS1/T56 , I'm right at 7000.00.
