i have an 86 camaro with a mechanical fuel pump and a eddy carb, my dads old buddy had a atk reman 350 with 193 heads and tbi injection that i picked up for $300. its only got 14k miles and i can confirm this as me and my dad put it in for his friend so i thought it was a good deal, i also have ecm and harness. my main question here is should i stick with the tbi and run an electronic fuel pump and have to run fuel line and return line, or just pick up a vortec carb intake, is my mechanical pump useable? im not a huge fan of the tbi but its a weekend warrior/look cool on nice day kind of car so i do my fair share of summer driving. spirited of course. would the tbi throw a better overall power curve? how does mpg change? it will be hooked to a t5 that probably wont last long as the engine is a 4 bolt 370ft/lb, with 3.73's backing it.

the fuel is my main concern. because id need pump, sending unit, forward and return lines and thats seems a little over kill, any help is appreciated and my budget is like im a 15 year old mowing lawns.

193 heads are not "Vortec". They are '87-up intake mount bolt pattern (affects the angle of the center two bolts on each side of the intake), that's it.

I'd stick with the carb (too bad someone put an Edelbrock on it, as the factory electronic q-jet is a great street performance unit). There is a chance the 350 block hasn't been machined for the mechanical fuel pump, in which case you'd need to convert to an electric fuel pump of some sort, but that's small potatoes compared to the headache of trying to install the TBI system.

Thanks for clearing that up, i do have some old q jets that need rebuild. The one your talking about is with the mixture solenoid? I have one but it was clicking constantly and dumping fuel on my buddies firebird. I guess ill start looking for a fuel pump and carb intake

That's what they do when they're working.
