Recently my car has been making a rattle in the area around the cat and y pipe. Is it possible the brick inside the cat got loose or broke up or is it maybe just a bad hanger? The car does have 73000 miles on the stock converters.

To give some background on my setup, I have the flowmaster american thunder kit. My car is also lowered so this may be the problem. My car scrapes its exhaust on speed bumps, so obviously this isn't good, but that hasn't caused any problems until now.

2 possible rattle causes

1-Like you said, maybe a piece broke off in the cat causing a rattle

2-The air tube from your exhaust manifolds(or headers) going down to the cat broke off by the cat or is rattling on it.

Just food for thought

I can vouch for #2. Check the air tube first. It may be tapping against the body if its been bent, or if the air tube has a screw clamp on it, it may be loose and rattling.

I'll third the air tube. It's very annoying!
