Alright here we go! I have a 1986 Camaro. I have the Edlebrock headers, with their y-pipe and flowmaster muffler with muffler shop piping. My piping has rusted right before the cat and then afterwards, then again going into the muffler. So basically I have to redo the entire header back exhaust! I already have the new replacement Edlebrock y-pipe. Now I need a catback system. I was thinking of getting the:

Flowmaster Catback System (Part#: 389-17233)

What are your thoughts on this? Also my question is this:

I want to run without the cat, would I need to have additional piping to fill that gap or does this catback connect all the way to the y-pipe? I just want to make sure I have everything for a complete bolt up or need some custom work. Let me know what you think! I always loved the sound of my Flowmaster system, but I want to start driving the car again and want to fix this ASAP! Open Headers are too loud ahha. Thanks.

My 89 IROC had a stock cat of 23" long. So from the end of your y-pipe to the beginning of your catback should be around 23". So get yourself a nice 23" pipe, then flare the inlet end (connecting to y-pipe), then it looks like this catback connects by using the stock style connection (This style http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/300/389/389-15923.jpg ) so have the outlet end of your cat delete pipe made to match the stock style of the catback inlet and I would assume your good to go. But measuring of course will have to be done. So I'd say have your headers and y-pipe installed, then install your catback. Then drive to a shop and have them mate them as needed. Shouldn't be much more than $50 to have done, I had my whole cat back installed for under $100 so...it shouldn't be much.

Awesome, I will have the shop just make a custom piece for that section. Using them to install the system and also flush out my tranny fluid with fresh stuff.

So from what I hear, to do a total tranny flush we need 11.5 qts for a 700R4???!? Damn!!!!!!!

That flush should last you a good 50k before needing it again. So probably not for another 3 years or so. Depending on what you feel is necessary for change intervals.
