Does anybody know positively whether or not the stock TBI 305 exhaust manifolds will bolt up to Vortec heads? I'm planning on putting a set of Vortecs on, but I can't get the exhaust set up right now. Yes, yes, I know I will realize only a fraction of the gains by restricting the exhaust this way, but I just don't have the money to put into the exhaust right now.
BTW, I'm also planning on installing an LT1 cam and Performer Vortec intake at the same time.
Thanks, ever'body!

Is this on the 305? If so, I'm a lot more concerned about the fact you're putting those heads on a 305 than anything else. Unless you do these things right, you're setting yourself up for an expensive disappointment (and I'd argue that Vortecs on a 305 is a wrong-headed approach, anyway, from both performance & cost).

Soggin Dickey said the stock manifolds will not work. I didn't check for sure when I did my swap, but did look like they would. According to Soggin Dickey though LT1 manifolds work, and would be dirt cheap. I am sure they would hold you over until you can get the $$$ for headers.
That's a great idea. I'll ask the guy who's giving me the cam (that's right folks, free cam!) if he still has the manifolds, too. Thanks for the idea.
BTW, Five7 - There's a whole ton of people around here running Vortec heads on 305's. There's a compression adjustment that needs to be made and a manifold purchase (these being the major hurdles), but they're still very well thought of for the 305.
