Anyone ever paint their exhaust and it actually stayed on it? My exhaust is starting to look rusty in some places where you can see it out the back

Re: Painting exhaust?
I've had good success with painting areas out back, which of course is MUCH cooler than headers on the engine side. I think most paint will work. I used engine block paint when I painted my Aerochamber black. After a few years it was still not showing signs of peeling or anything. The heat cycles do dull the finish, but it was still all black.

Re: Painting exhaust?
I have had success with bbq black paint and aluminium color with ceramic. Find the highest heat rating you can. Any time I've tried the "super high temp" style paints in other colors, it always burns off and leaves the white ceramic or worse, nothing.

Re: Painting exhaust?
As with @Abubaca, I've had some luck painting the exhaust further back, specifically the muffler and tailpipes. Behind the axle I've had even regular paint survive for a while (I believe that I coated my Dynomax ultra flow welded and tailpipes with "spray galvanizing" and then black high temp paint and it's been find for years, the muffler is starting to rust out from the inside). As you go further forward it gets harder for stuff to survive and you need to use better stuff. I've never had anything last very long on headers and y-pipes, not even ceramic coatings like jet hot...

Re: Painting exhaust?
I painted mine with header 2000 degree primer and then eng block paint. The engine block paint flaked off from about midway all the way forward in the exhaust. The rear still looks good. It'd would have been better to paint straight on and not use primer. So it cures properly.
