ASC 'rare' convertibles

Ok

Since I was getting repeat opinions and questions from my first few posts on my car, I thought I'd post this reply from the body/Interior section over here. So far, the only other 3rd gen 1989 Formula 350 convertible owner I've met on this board since joining.

I also have an 89 Formula 350 ASC convertible. It has 66K on it and it needs just a little work to be nice again. The amount of all Firebirds converted in 89 by ASC I think is 369 or somewhere close to that(there are some stats on this site or the gtasourcepage.com, or transamgta.com). I do know from references from said sites that there was only 50 350TPI equipped Firebirds made in 89. That combines the Formula350, T/A's and GTA's. As far as the breakdown in #'s for just Formulas, I would like to know as well. There are at least 4 out there. Mine, yours, another one in red out west for sale last year, and a black one that was posted on a site that I dont remember. Out of the 50 firebirds conv w/350TPI, there was alot of GTA's having the combo. I'd never seen one in person til I bought mine and I'm in Mass. I'm thinking of selling her due to the fact that I want to get a 91/92 T/A conv so I dont have to convert the 89 to look like one and ruin a really rare example. STEVE Z

Mine has around 117K miles and I bought it with 44K miles. It is a theft recovery rebadged with Pennsylvania Special Plates.
I also found an ad for a 1989 Formula convert that may have not been a 350 TPI engine as it wasn't mentioned. This was in an old Specialty Car Marketplace classified magazine. I can get photos of the 'evidence' if need be. The seller was asking $16K at the time and lived in NY. He claimed to be original owner and that there were 6000 made in 1989

Anyway, I hope I'm not harping on the subject of my car, but it's interesting (to me anyway hehe)

The black one he is referring to I have pictures of. A guy from our local club at the time took the pics of the car. I've posted them here before.

I'm not sure I really believe the 369/50 production numbers, there seem to be too many floating around. I'd like to think I have a one of 50 car though...:lala:
