I want to test some knowledge here. I have an 89 firebird formula, ws6, tpi 5.0, t-5, 9bolt, a/c, pwr windows, pwr doors, t-top, 140/ 220 speedo. Heres the kicker, its a canadian car. It has the kilometer speedo to 220 kpm, metric oil pressure and water temp in celsiues. How many of these are out there. I know the state side ones aren't that rare, but what about the ones made for canada? And yes I know it is just a regular bird with different speedo and water and temp gauge. Just curious as to how many. Thanks for any info.

Only thing that might make it rare is if it doesn't have any rust on it.

In this case,I think he needs to contact pontiac of Canada.I'm pretty sure that phs and Gm archives dept doesn't have records for cars built for export.Good luck tho

Considering that the 5 Speed TPI combo was unusual when you consider there were more 350/A4 cars made, that makes it "rare". As far as exporting to Canada, no idea, really the only difference may be the gages, which can be changed out in about 20 min.

I doubt it would make it more "valuable"

Actually If you have a pic of the IP, I would like to see it... I have never seen an export dash up close with the MEtric stuff.

????????
There is no real differance in the car other than the gauges. They are just in kpm instead of mph. Same color. I want to change them out for mph and f intead of c. Will try to get a pic.
I thought there we more t-5, tpi cars than 350/a4 cars. Up here in washington I have not seen a 350/a4 combo in a bird, but lots of 305tpi/t-5's.

Dont know about 1989; but in 1988 3175 Formulas brought into Canada with only 51 being the "350"'s. That is from the Canada GM archives division when I paid for the info on my Formula 350.

Here's the Canuck dash out of my 90 GTA.. The only difference is the KM's are large numbers and on the outside of the speedo ring. (Oppposite of the US one with big miles outside and little KMs inside).. The odometer reads KM, so 100,000 is only 62,000 miles.. And of course the temp reads in Celsius and the oil is in kilopascals

One note.. The 90-92 Canadian cars came with daytime running lights. The front turn signals are both on bright all the time when the headlights are off. The only way to turn them off is to put on the emergency brake.

I also see that your fuel gage is different, Here in the US we have F & E for Full & Empty, You have circles which I think is a cool idea...

Jim, On your daytime lights, do they automatically come on at night... I was told they do...
