IMO: You should re-use your original Heater controller. The non-AC blower motor/box works just fine with an AC controller.
The non-AC Controller - at least the 82-89 style - are cable controlled meaning there's no vacuum lines used to control the air delivery MODE. If you install one of these into a 82-89 with AC than you will not be able to adjust the air from the floor - to the vents - to the Deforoster.
I know the 90-92 Camaro used a vacuum operated non-AC controller.... but they have yellow graphics. I do not know how the 90-92 FIrebird non-AC controllers are built, but I ASSUME that they might be vacuum controlled as well. ( Might want to search for a Firebird 90-92 style non-AC controller. )
